Mississippi Steamboat is fronted by Amy Bishop, known for her amazing vocals and witty banter. Accentuated by Amy’s great sense of humor and passion for performing, the audience is guaranteed an unforgettable show. Amy has been pursuing a solo career over the past few years and continues to evolve as a performer. She is excited to join forces again with Mississippi Steamboat for this new CD project and live performances.
Nancy Laberge is the founder of Mississippi Steamboat and one of the primary songwriters for the band. Along with playing rhythm guitar during performances, Nancy coordinates bookings for the group. Nancy has spent time writing and performing in Nashville, earning herself a publishing deal with Honey Tree Music. She continues to have her songs pitched in Nashville with hopes of having her music recorded by other artists.
Kristen Martel plays percussion and sings backup vocals for the group. She brings numerous years of performing experience to the table. Classically trained, Kristen adds a unique sound to Mississippi Steamboat. Her fun-loving attitude generates a high energy feel to every performance.
Mississippi Steamboat released their first full-length CD, “The Highway,” in 2001. It was produced by the talented Russell Broom; with executive producer, Tom Coxworth of CKUA fame. The group parted ways in 2003 to pursue solo endeavors. Now they are back together, ready to showcase their strong performance skills and a wider selection of songs in their repertoire.
The group is in the process of compiling a new CD. They are eager to share their fresh new sound and a new collection of life experiences: love, laughter and plain old-fashioned heartbreak. This new CD promises more of everything you’ve loved about Mississippi Steamboat and just enough surprises to keep you wanting more.
